Construction work on the €600m extension of LUAS to Finglas in north Dublin has moved a step closer. This follows Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) commencing the procurement process on Monday for the construction phase with TII estimating that the main design and construction contract will cost €250m.

The scheme is to serve communities including Charlestown, Finglas Village, Finglas West, St Helena’s, and the Tolka Valley, and will comprise four new stops at St Helena’s, Finglas Village, St Margaret’s Road, and Charlestown. It will also involve the construction of two new bridges at the Tolka River and Broombridge.

TII has confirmed that it intends to award the contract in the second quarter of 2028. The duration of the contract is four years and four months including any options and renewals. Read the full story here.
